Seeing Life Through My Rose-Colored Heart
I've been doing a lot of art lately. It's been a creative, positive way to process whatever emotions I'm feeling and to get my eyes focused on something besides a screen.
The pic below is not my favorite visually. However, I love hearts and wanted to do something with some new shimmery watercolors I got recently. I also wanted to express love to myself and others.
The hearts themselves are acrylic marker. The border lines were done with sharpies. The background is watercolor. It's cool to see my skills and tools expand in ways I've been afraid to try.
As a writer for most of my life, it's also interesting to experience the shift of wanting to express my emotions through drawing and painting before, or in addition to, using words.
For various reasons, my energy and emotions have been a little off this week. The difficult emotions and moments are represented by the black spots and patches.
That's not my norm...I usually see and experience the world through my rose-colored heart. It's scary to acknowledge that darkness exists in it too because I don't want to get stuck there or for it to take over.
Like in the drawing/painting, I can choose to create a world around myself that focuses on the good, the light, the "rose-colored" glass. I can also choose to be around others who acknowledge their darkness but choose to focus their energy on becoming a brighter version of themselves.
